NOTD: Meadham Kirchhoff nail wraps for LFW

Tonight's nail of the day is something a little bit different, a little bit extra special, as i'm lucky enough to be spending the weekend at London Fashion week to see a few different shows - I thought now was as good a time as any to go 'all out' on my nails!

Now if you've read my blog before, there's a good chance you'll have noticed how much of a nail art obsessive I am. I love painting on my own leopard & polka dot patterns, and experimenting with glitter etc. Because of this, i've never really seen the point in nail wraps to be completely honest. I understand the benefits, not having to wait for them to dry, no smudging, no chipping, and then apparently they last for up to 10 days (but i have heard otherwise.)
However, I just think that whilst I can DIY, why not? They look more individual, and it's nice to be able to say that i've done them myself.

However, after hearing that Meadham Kirchhoff were going to collaborate with Nail Rocks and Topshop to release these bad boys, I knew I wouldn't be able to resist...
So what do I think of them? How was my first experience using nail wraps?

I have to be honest, I was a tiny bit surprised at how many stages they suggest you go through on the instructions, I thought it might be a bit simpler than that. However, I followed them all through as I wanted them to look perfect.

It took me several attempts to get them nail wrap on smooth, with no creases, which was a bit of a nuisance. As silly as it sounds, I was kind of surprised how tricky it was - seeing as I would normally say i'm pretty good at nail related stuff! And, after a few rearranging attempts they're still not quite as perfect as I'd have liked.

Despite a few lumps and bumps, i'm still really pleased with the outcome. They're adorable patterns! But seeing as the pack was £7 for 16 wraps (to me this seems a tiny bit pricey, BUT it's the closest i'm going to come to affording anything by Meadham Kirchhoff for a while!) I've just used them as signature nails, accompanied with my trusty leopard print.

What do you think of nail wraps in general? Are they worth the cost & the sometimes tricky application process?

  1. You could easily get false nails that cheap, with the design already printed. Not worth it in my opinion!

  2. Adorable! I'd suggest putting the nail art on false nails so as you'll be able to reuse!

    1. Great idea! I don't normally wear false nails, as i'm quite lucky to have naturally strong nails. But for the purpose of reusing these nail wraps, they'd be perfect! Also possibly easier to apply :) x

  3. I got some in a GlossyBox (red lace... classy) and haven't got round to trying them. Like you, I LOVE mk but will never be able to afford it any time soon so was tempted but I'm a hardened nail biter, so I just don't think it's meant to be. They are ridic expensive. Like Shannon said, maybe on false nails? xx

    1. Haha, I saw the red lace ones on someone elses blog. Tacky, but very Essex... maybe save them for when you're home from Uni? ;)

  5. I really like your nails! I've recently started wearing false nails myself - just some Elegant Touch french mannicure ones from Boots. Even though they make my natural nails underneath look a bit unhealthy, I love how elegant I feel in them. I think the wraps are a good idea and possibly not as damaging to the natural nail? Hmmm, I feel inspired to have a go at colour and print after reading your post here! xx

    1. Thankyou! I think if I didn't have naturally nice nails, i'd probably wear falsies all the time! -Even sometimes, i'm tempted to just cut mine short & wear false nails, as they look so perfect & neat!
Definitely try out some prints :) easy way to add something unique to your outfit! xxx
